Driver who broke down on M6 near Stafford is restrained after becoming ‘aggressive’

Staffordshire[1] RCT team restrained the person after their vehicle broke down on the M6, near Junction 13, near Stafford[2]. Officers attended to assist National Highways West Midlands[3] teams with the broken-down vehicle.

However, according to officers, the driver was drunk and aggressive, leading to the temporary holding of traffic while they were restrained. A Staffordshire RCT spokesperson said on X: "M6 J13 NB 1 of our patrols went to assist Highways with a breakdown.

Turned out the driver was drunk & became aggressive & violent, resulting in PAVA being used.

"Other patrols attended resulting in temp holding of traffic whilst the driver was restrained & the arrival of a police van."
