An elderly woman has suffered life-changing injuries in a serious collision. The emergency services were called to the A17 on Thursday, May 16, after receiving reports of a collision near Saracen's Head.[1][2] The crash was first reported at 1.58pm and involved a car and a lorry. The driver of the car was a woman in her 70s, who suffered life-changing injuries during the collision.
She remains in hospital. The road remained closed until just before 1am on Friday, May 16, so that investigations could be carried out and vehicles could be recovered. Officers[3] are now appealing to the public for help in its investigation.
The force is asking anyone who was travelling along the A17 between the A16 junction for Sutteron Dowdyke and the A151 junction for Whaplode between 1.30pm and 2pm if they saw a 71 plate white Seat Ibiza travelling eastbound in the Norfolk direction. Police also want to know if they saw a white Renault lorry travelling in the Boston direction. The force also wants to see any dashcam footage of the collision itself or the vehicles beforehand.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact the force by emailing [email protected] or by calling 01522 212316, quoting incident 190 of May 15, 2025.
