Lorry crash leaves pedestrian with life-changing injuries in Crewkerne
A pedestrian has suffered life-changing injuries after a lorry crash in Crewkerne this morning[1], Thursday, May 15. The crash happened in the Market Square just before midday. The air ambulance attended the incident and took the injured pedestrian to hospital[2].
Their next of kin has not yet been traced. Avon and Somerset Police[3] said: "Police are at the scene of a serious injury collision in Crewkerne. Emergency services were called to the A356 Market Square at about 11.50am on Thursday 15 May following a collision involving a pedestrian and a HGV.
"The casualty has gone to hospital with injuries currently described as life-changing. "Officers have not yet been able to trace their next of kin. If you saw the collision or have any dashcam, other footage or information, and have yet to speak with police, please call 101 and give the reference 5225135887."
The South Western Ambulance Service said that the air ambulance took the pedestrian to Southmead Hospital, in Bristol. The road remains closed at the time of writing and drivers have been asked to avoid the area for the time being. Crewkerne Town Council said: "There has been an accident in Crewkerne town centre.
Emergency services are on site and traffic is experiencing significant delays.
"Please avoid the area if possible and take alternative routes.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation."
