A man has died following a collision between a van and a lorry in Powys. Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed a man died after the two-vehicle crash on the A44 between New Radnor and Walton at 4pm on Thursday afternoon, May 1. The police force added that the crash involved an articulated lorry and a Ford Transit.

The force said that the driver of the Ford Transit van was rushed to hospital after the collision, but later died from their injuries.

The A44 remained closed for over 12 hours.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched.

The force also noted that the family of the deceased has been informed.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 6, a spokesperson for the police force said: "Dyfed-Powys police is investigating a two-vehicle road traffic collision, which occurred on the A44, between New Radnor and Walton, at approx.

4pm on Thursday, May 1.

"The collision involved a white ford transit van and an articulated lorry.

"The driver of the Ford Transit was taken to hospital where sadly he later died.

"Their next of kin have been informed and trained police officers are supporting their family.

"The road was closed overnight and re-opened just before 7.30am on May 2."

Anyone with information that could help the police with their investigation, including anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time with dashcam footage, is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police.
