Motorcyclist killed and passenger seriously hurt in A5 crash
The pillion passenger was seriously injured following in the incident at Capel Curig on Saturday, May 10. Police were called at 5.31pm by the Welsh Ambulance Service to a report of collision involving a red-coloured Honda motorcycle and a white-coloured Volkswagen Caddy van. North Wales Police said: "The emergency services attended, however despite the best efforts of all involved, the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The female pillion passenger was airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious, potentially life-changing injuries. "The driver of the van sustained what was believed to be minor injuries." The motorcyclist's family have been informed.
Police are appealing for witnesses. Sergeant Leigh McCann, of the Roads Crime Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the motorcyclist's family at this sad time. "The investigation to establish the cause of the collision is underway and we are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have been travelling along the A5 near Capel Curig around the time of the collision and who may have dash cam footage to come forward.
"The road remains closed in both directions at this time, and we'd like to thank the local community and motorists for their patience."
