Police update after Northumberland A1 crash involving overturned lorry

Police have issued an update on the condition of two people who were injured in a crash on the A1. Emergency services were called to the A1 near Causey Park at around 3.40pm on Tuesday to reports of a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle.[1] A number of police vehicles attended the scene, between Morpeth and Alnwick, where a lorry had overturned in the crash involving another three vehicles. As a result, it had shed its load across the carriageway.

Officers closed the main road in both directions to traffic causing major delays to drivers during the evening rush hour. The North East Ambulance Service confirmed two people were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, with their condition unknown at the time. Northumbria Police[2] has now provided an update on the condition of those taken to hospital.
