Stratford Road closed after pedestrian hit by lorry in Shirley
A major road is closed after a pedestrian was 'hit by a lorry'. West Midlands Police said they were called to a collision involving a lorry and pedestrian on Stratford Road, near to the Flannels store, in Shirley, just after 11.05am on Saturday (May 17). The man was taken to hospital for further assessment and the lorry driver is helping police with their enquiries.
The A34 Stratford Road Northbound has been cordoned off and there is slow traffic from B4102 Blackford Road to Shakespeare Drive. West Midlands Police[2] said: "We were called to Stratford Road, Shirley at 11.06am to reports of a collision involving a lorry and pedestrian. "A man was taken to hospital to be assessed. "The lorry driver stopped at the scene to assist with our enquiries. National Express West Midlands bus routes 5, 6 and 76 have been placed on diversion. West Midlands Roads said: "A34 Stratford Road Northbound. Road traffic collision near Sainsburys. "Road blocked - Traffic congestion in opposite direction.
