Thief jailed for stealing £23k of shoes from lorry

A man has been jailed after admitting stealing shoes worth nearly GBP23,000 from a lorry near Gillingham.

Michael Tremarco, of St Agnes Drive in Canvey Island, Essex, previously pleaded guilty to theft, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Kent Police charged the 35-year-old in April[1] after a lorry was stopped in London following a report of the theft at a service station on the M2 in Kent.

Tremarco received a 21-month prison sentence and six points on his driving licence at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.
