Watch as cows invade busy housing estate in funny video

This is the moment a pair of cows were spotted gallivanting around a housing estate after breaking out of their field. A funny video shows the two cows running riot through a quiet residential street in Monaghan[1], on April 29. At one point, one of the cows attempts to jump over a fence, gets briefly stuck, then struggles its way to the other side while the other cow simply walks through an open gate.

A resident can also be seen watching in bewilderment. It's been a busy news week for cattle with the Balmoral Show taking place[2] and two unfortunate motorway incidents. In one incident, a lorry containing around 40 cattle overturned on the M1 close to Dungannon[3], forcing the closure of the carriageway for a large portion of the day.

David Doherty, area commander for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS),[4] said the driver "is safe and well" and told the Nolan show it was a complex rescue and recovery involving 30 firefighters and specialist animal rescue teams.

He said: "It is a multi-agency programme, and we have DAERA looking after the animal welfare. A large vehicle like this with two decks, which has obviously been affected by the impact of the crash. "It is quite a comprehensive operation, that is why our specialist crew are here assisting our normal crews.

It is quite a complex task for our firefighters."

In a separate incident on Thursday evening, cattle also escaped onto the A4 carriageway in Dungannon causing long delays for motorists.
