A1 Brampton crash: Woman taken to hospital after lorry and car crash

A woman has been taken to hospital after a crash on a major Cambridgeshire[1] A-road. Emergency services were called to a crash on the A1 at Brampton Hut just before 12pm today[2] (Friday, June 13). The crash, which involved a lorry and car[3], resulted in the whole roundabout being closed and drivers being warned to 'avoid the area'.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue had to cut a woman from one of the vehicles, and she was then left in the care of ambulance crews. A fire service spokesperson said: "Crews from Huntingdon[4] and St Neots[5] were called to a road traffic collision on the Brampton Hut roundabout at around 11.30am. Firefighters arrived to find a collision involving a car and lorry.

"Using specialist equipment, they released a female casualty who was left in the care of ambulance crews. The crews returned to their stations by 1pm." The woman was transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital[6] for further treatment.

An East of England Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 11.25am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry on a roundabout on the A14[7] near Brampton. "Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and a response car from the Magpas Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. One patient was transferred by road to Addenbrooke's Hospital for further treatment."

Cambridgeshire Police were also at the scene.

A police spokesperson previously said: "We were called at 11.24am today with reports of a collision on the A1 at Brampton Hut, involving a car and a lorry.

Officers, firefighters and paramedics are currently at the scene and the entire roundabout has been closed while the incident is dealt with, causing delays in the area and traffic to be diverted through Huntingdon."
