A1 van fire live: Road partly closed with emergency services at scene
A major Cambridgeshire A-road has reopened after a vehicle fire. Emergency services were called to the A1 at junction 15 between Sawtry and Alconbury this morning (Tuesday, June 17). This was due to a vehicle fire, which closed two out of four lanes on the road.
The road has now reopened and traffic is running as normal. Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: "All lanes open, earlier vehicle fire on A1(M) Southbound after B1043 (Sawtry)." Cambridgeshire Police were first called to the scene at 9.30am. A police spokesperson said: "We were called at about 9.30am today with reports of a van on fire on the A1, J15 between Sawtry and Alconbury.
The road is partly closed (lanes one and two) but lanes three and four are still running." No injuries were reported. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue were also at the scene. A spokesperson earlier said: "We have a crew from Stanground and a crew from Huntingdon responding to a van fire on the A1 Southbound between Junction 15 Sawtry to Junction 13 Alconbury."
