A14 still closed nearly 12 hours after lorry crash
The A14 remains closed nearly 12 hours after a serious crash. National Highways said a HGV and a van were involved in a crash on the major road at around 4.15am. Both carriageways between junction 47A for Elmswell and junction 45 for Tot Hill were closed in the aftermath[1] with Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, the East of England Ambulance Service and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attending the scene.
Westbound reopened shortly after 5am but the eastbound carriageway remains closed to allow for Suffolk police to carry out investigation work. UPDATE: A14 reopens after 15 hour closure[2] National Highways operatives are working on the scene to clear a spillage caused by the crash.
ADVERTISEMENT It is not yet known whether anyone was injured in the collision or when the A14 will reopen. Drivers are being advised to follow 'hollow circle' diversions on the road to Stowmarket.
Motorist are being advised to allow for extra time to complete their journeys.
