A4440 fears as more crashes follow death of motorcyclist

A two-car crash occurred on the A4440 Broomhall Way in Worcester by the Norton roundabout on Wednesday evening, one of 11 similar incidents on the Southern Link Road so far this year. The crash another on Sunday on the A4440 Temeside Way, near the Ketch roundabout, which resulted in a van ending up in a ditch. Both crashes follow the death of Marshall Myers[1], 22, a "doting" father of three who died on Father's Day (June 15). He was on his way to a car boot sale, with his young family in a car not far behind, when his motorbike crashed into the A4440 roundabout between St Peter's Drive and Norton Road. Now John Renshaw, chairman of St Peter's Parish Council, is calling for an urgent review into safety on the A4440, also known as the Southern Link Road, to reduce the risk of further incidents.

He has logged 11 crashes this year at the Ketch roundabout, the Whittington roundabout or the Norton roundabout, all on the A4440. "There's a bit of a pattern that needs to be investigated," he said. "As can be seen from the photos the police attended both incidents. "In view of the number of accidents that have happened at both roundabouts recently, I will be writing to county highways again asking what are they going to do to make the section of the A4440 that runs by St Peter's safer.
