A590: Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after collision with van

Emergency services were called to the scene just before 9am this morning (Friday, June 27) after a crash involving a motorbike and a van. The road was closed in both directions for several hours, causing significant delays between Ulverston and Barrow. An air ambulance from Blackpool was called to attend and was seen landing near the crash site shortly after 10am.

The North West Air Ambulance Charity confirmed they responded to the incident, although no further details were released. Speaking at the time of the incident, a spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the North West Air Ambulance Charity was called out to a road traffic collision in Ulverston on the 27th of June, H08 responded. That's the only information we have at this time."

Traffic congestion built up in the surrounding area throughout the morning, with long delays reported by drivers, including local businesses caught in the queues. Police advised motorists to avoid the area where possible. By midday, National Highways confirmed the road had reopened and traffic had begun to return to normal.

Cumbria Police confirmed the force is now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. For more breaking news, subscribe to the Mail[3] A spokesperson said: "Police were called at 8:49am today (June 27) to the report of a two-vehicle collision on the A590 at Lindal.
