Banbury: Tributes pour in for motorcyclist who died in crash
A black Honda CBR 650 and a HGV with a trailer were involved in the crash on the A361 South Newington Road, between Bloxham Road and New Road, at around 1.45pm on Friday. The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
We launched a book of condolence and tributes have been flooding in for the 22-year-old named locally as Telmo Rijo. A tribute left by his friend Liv Polec said: "You will be dearly missed Telmo. You were always such an amazing friend to everyone around you and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to experience the friendship we had.
"I can't believe this has happened and I hold you and your family in my thoughts at such a difficult time. You will never be forgotten by anyone but will be extremely missed by many." Another tribute left by Courtney Wright said: "Oh Telmo I have no words, a young man full of life.
"The most kind-hearted person, you always knew how to light up a room and put a smile on everyone's faces. Memories I will cherish forever. Never forgotten and always in our hearts.
RIP and sleep tight man." Another tribute from friend Kyle Harvey added: "It was an honour and privilege knowing you mate. Such a shame you were taken too soon.
"So many people have lost a great lad with a good soul who lit up the room. I'll cherish those few times we had together. Rest easy up there bro."
Public tributes have been left for Telmo Rijo (Image: Facebook) Luana Calado said: "I watched you grow up as you watched me grow up and now. I'll have to keep growing up without you. "But through all this, I remind myself that hurting this much over your loss only means that our bond was truly incredible.
You fly high, cousin." Sophie Gorton added: "Telmo there is no words in this world that will ever explain how devastated I am, the purest soul I ever knew, so bouncy and happy full of life. Becoming a dad, living your dreams.
"I will forever treasure the memories we share from school, to the silly ones growing up in our late teenage years with Kian. I will forever treasure your support towards me through motherhood." Thames Valley Police has now launched an investigation and is appealing for witnesses after the fatality was confirmed.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Darren Baker, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "You can get in touch by calling 101 or via our website, quoting the reference number 43250306299."
