Crash on A393 left Falmouth woman with serious injuries
The accident happened on the A393 between Lanner and Ponsanooth at 2pm on Saturday, June 7. The accident involved a silver Toyota and blue Hyundai with the female driver of one taken to Royal Cornwall[1] Hospital with serious injuries where she remains. She had to be cut free from their vehicle after being trapped due to the collision, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has said.
Crews from Falmouth and Tolvaddon were called just after 2.15pm to Pelean Cross, Ponsanooth. A fire service spokesperson said: "There were two vehicles involved with one casualty trapped. The crew carried out a roof removal of one vehicle to release the casualty.
"Police and ambulance were also in attendance, and the incident has now been handed over to the police." Three other people were treated for minor injuries. The road was closed until 4.40pm while the police carried out an investigation of the scene.
The police are now appealing for witnesses to try and piece together what happened. A statement from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision on the A393 between Lanner and Ponsanooth, Cornwall. "Officers were called to the incident soon after 2pm on Saturday 7 June, where it was reported that a collision had occurred involving two vehicles, a silver Toyota and a blue Hyundai.

"The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman from the Falmouth area was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske where she was treated for serious injuries and remains in hospital. "Three other people sustained minor injuries. "The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.
"Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public and local residents for their patience whilst the road was closed.
The road closure was handed over to highways at around 4.40pm."
