Disruption to travel after ‘serious crash’ on A274 Headcorn Road at Bounds Cross in Biddenden, near Ashford

Emergency services have been called to reports of a serious crash involving a car and a van. The A274 Headcorn Road in Biddenden, near Ashford, was reportedly closed in both directions following a collision.

The incident is understood to have happened at Bounds Cross, near the junction with Frittenden Road. Police, paramedics and fire crews are said to be in attendance.

An air ambulance also landed nearby, according to Flightradar. Bus operator Arriva says its 12 service has been impacted by the crash. "Due to a serious road traffic collision at Bounds Cross, services will be terminating at Headcorn station until further notice," it posted on X shortly after 6pm.

A fire service spokesperson says it was called to reports of a crash between a van and a car at 4.30pm. "One fire engine attended, and crews assisted police and paramedics to make the scene safe," they said. The road has since reopened, according to a traffic source.

Police and the ambulance service have been approached for more information.
