Driver suffers life-threatening injuries as two arrested after pile-up near A50

A motorist has suffered life-threatening injuries following a pile-up near the A50 which has seen police make two arrests. Officers, paramedics and firefighters were called out to the A38 northbound close to the Staffordshire and Derbyshire border. Emergency services were confronted with a crash involving three cars - an Audi A5, BMW 3 Series, and Ford Focus - and a truck.

And the force says

the BMW driver remains in hospital after suffering what officers have described as 'life-threatening injuries'.
