M4: Crash between lorry and car overnight near Swindon

Traffic[1] was stopped on the M4 eastbound between junction 15 Swindon and junction 14 Hungerford at around 2:20am on Thursday, June 26 following a collision near Membury Services. Emergency services and traffic officers rushed to the incident and closed the section of the motorway and diversions were in place for several hours, causing delays for motorists. A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "The M4 eastbound at junction 15 is closed following a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car.

"Diversions are in place." At 4:10am, National Highways confirmed that lane three was still closed for 'barrier damage assessment and carriageway clearance' and all lanes were reopened by 5am. The motorway is now reopen as usual.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: "This incident occurred at just after 2.20am this morning eastbound between junctions 15 and 14 between an HGV and a car.

"There were no serious injuries."
