M6 traffic LIVE updates as vehicle overturns sparking long delays and traffic stopped
Drivers are facing delays on the M6 in Greater Manchester after a vehicle overturned. Traffic was stopped on the motorway at 7am this morning (June 25), according to the Inrix traffic monitoring service. Vehicles were held on the northbound side between junctions 27 at Standish and 28 at Leyland, in Lancashire.
The road remains 'blocked' following the collision, Inrix says. An update from Inrix said: "M6 Northbound blocked, severe delays due to accident, overturned vehicle involved from J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish) to J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland). "All traffic was blocked around 07:00am."
Data from Google shows heavy traffic in both directions on the M6 near to junction 27, with queues also building up as drivers pass the collision on the southbound side. Officers were called out to the scene at 6.30am. The M6 reopened shortly before 7.40am. Updates will be posted in this blog as soon as they are available.
