The M62 is set to closed for hours after a crash. Emergency services were called to the A49, Winwick Road in Warrington[1] at around 3am on Friday, June 13.
It followed a crash involving a lorry which had crashed[2] into railings on the bridge over the M62. National Highways said the crash caused a large diesel spillage onto the carriageway which contractors are currently in the process of clearing.
Cheshire Police confirmed the closure is expected to stay in place for several hours and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
There are not believed to be reports of any injuries, a spokesperson added.
Traffic management system Inrix said there are "severe delays" on the motorway following the crash. Congestion is currently reaching junction 7 (Rainhill stoops) heading eastbound.

Queues are also backing up to junction 10 (Croft Interchange) heading westbound, Inrix said. A diversion is in place via the exit and entry sliproads to continue on the motorway.
Traffic on the eastbound carriageway of the M62 and southbound of the A49 travelling from Winnick cannot get around the roundabout and are having to go east and turn around at junction 11 (Birchwood).
There are current delays of around 45 minutes.
