Man has died following crash on the A4233 bypass
Emergency services were called to the scene at 5.55pm on June 18 after reports of a collision on Porth Bridge, which is part of the A4233 in Porth. The road was closed in both directions[1] between the Porth roundabout and the Ynyshir roundabout, causing disruption to local traffic throughout the evening. A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police was called at 5:55pm yesterday (Wednesday June 18) to a collision between a car and a van on Porth Bridge (A4233) in Porth.
"As a result of the collision a 46-year-old man from Ferndale has died. "Investigations into the collision are on-going." The closure affected the stretch of the A4233 from Aldi to the Lady Lewis Industrial Estate.
Despite the closure, traffic was reported to be coping well, according to the AA. Investigation work continued into the evening, with the road remaining closed for several hours. Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward as enquiries continue.
By the morning of June 19, traffic flow in the area had returned to normal and the road was reopened.
