A man in his 30s has died following a collision between his motorcycle and a car near Ramsey. He was the third motorcyclist to die in Cambridgeshire in a week and the fourth within a month.
Police and paramedics were called to the B1096, Wood Lane, at about 8.25pm on Saturday (21 June) following a collision between a white Toyota Yaris heading towards Ramsey and a green Kawasaki motorbike heading towards Ramsey Forty Foot. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car driver, a 74-year-old man from Sawtry, was left with slight injuries. Det Sgt Craig Wheeler said: "Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who tragically lost his life in this collision and his family are being supported by our family liaison officers. "I would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage as they could greatly help our investigation."
Police have appealed for anyone who saw what happened in the moments leading up to the incident or with dashcam footage to get in touch via the force website using the reference Op Photograph, or to call 101.
The fatal collision follows the death of two motorcyclists in separate incidents last Wednesday (18 June). A 27-year-old man from Fenstanton was arrested[1] on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs following a collision between a blue SUV heading towards Hilton and a yellow Kawasaki motorbike heading away from Conington at about 9.45pm. The motorcyclist, a man in his 70s from Cottenham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The same evening, at about 7.45pm, a 33-year-old woman who was riding a red Honda[2] GB 650 RA-K north along the B1043 at Stanton Hill, towards Sawtry, died after her motorcycle left the road and struck a fence. On 30 May, Luke Bromilow, 34, from Uckfield, East Sussex, died in a collision[3] at Branch Bank, between Littleport and Queen Adelaide. A Volkswagen Transporter van travelling southbound was involved in a collision with Mr Bromilow's red Triumph motorbike travelling in the opposite direction at about 2pm.
