A man was killed after being hit by a car in a horror crash on the M60[1] in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 29).

Emergency services raced to the incident on the anti-clockwise carriageway shortly before 4am. Police said the man, a pedestrian, was struck between junctions 23 and 21.

The motorway was initially closed off in both directions as police and paramedics attended. The victim, a 57-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A large closure was put in place on both sides of the carriageway throughout the day, remaining in place for 12 hours while investigation work took place.

The motorway later re-opened at around 4.20pm, National Highways announced. Greater Manchester Police[3] are now appealing for information and for witnesses to come forward.

A force spokesperson said: "At around 3:56am this morning Sunday 29 June 2025, a vehicle driving on junction 22 of the M60 collided with a pedestrian.

"The collision caused significant injuries and the pedestrian, a 57-year-old man, sadly passed away at the scene.

"Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.

"Anyone with any information, dash cam or mobile phone footage is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 525 of 29/06/2025.
