Police give update on M62 closure in Warrington
The motorway was closed at junction 9, Winwick, at 3am this morning after a crash involving a lorry. The lorry collided the motorway bridge on A49 Winwick Road which caused fuel to spill onto the below carriageway. As a result, both sides of the M62 were closed, with severe delays in place all morning and this afternoon.
Now, as of 3.15pm, Cheshire Police has confirmed that half of the motorway has been reopened. The eastbound carriageway is now open to motorists, but the westbound remains closed. National Highways has confirmed that the closure will remain closed throughout evening rush hour and into tonight while resurfacing takes place.
Cheshire Police has also confirmed that no arrests have been made and no injuries have been reported.
