Police issue update on lorry crash which saw driver flown to hospital

A lorry driver was flown to hospital after his vehicle overturned on a main road. Emergency services were called to the A525, near Bangor-on-Dee, in Wrexham, on Monday afternoon after the lorry crashed.[1][2] The Wales Air Ambulance was called to the scene, and the driver was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for several hours after tar spilled from the lorry onto the carriageway. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson said: "Shortly before 2pm police were called to the A525 after a report that a lorry carrying tar had overturned and was blocking both carriageways.

"The driver was taken to hospital in Stoke but he has since been released. The road was closed to allow highways to clear the area due to tar spilling to the carriageway. "Anybody who may have witnessed the incident or who may have been travelling along the A525 at Bangor-on-Dee prior to the collision and who has dash cam footage is urged to contact officers at the Roads Crime Unit via the website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 25000453146."
