Police launch appeal after Loch Ness road crash leaves motorcyclist in ‘serious condition’

Police are appealing for information following a serious crash on the A82 near Lochend[1] which left a motorcyclist in hospital and led to the arrest of another man. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.30pm yesterday after a collision involving a BMW R1300 motorbike and a Peugeot Carado campervan. RELATED:

The 57-year-old rider of the motorbike was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where his condition is described as serious, police confirmed.

The occupants of the campervan were uninjured. The 46-year-old driver of the campervan was arrested in connection with the incident and later released pending further enquiries. The road was closed for several hours and reopened at around 11.30pm following investigation work.

Sergeant Kate Finlayson said: "I'm appealing to anyone who was travelling on the A82 around 4.30pm yesterday and saw what happened to contact us.

"Likewise, if you saw either vehicle prior to the collision and have information which may assist our investigation, please get in touch.

"I'd also ask drivers with dash-cam footage to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention."
