A120 to shut tonight as part of £2.6M speed camera and safety improvements
National Highways will resurface sections of the A120 and complete works to the speed camera system between Braintree and Marks Tey. While the works are carried out, the A120 will be closed between Marks Farm and Marks Tey roundabouts tonight, Thursday, and Saturday, August 2. The road will be shut between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.
The safety improvement works come after multiple fatal crashes on this stretch of road earlier this year.

The 60mph speed limit on the Coggeshall bypass between Bradwell and Marks Tey was also reduced to 50mph. In May, Braintree MP James Cleverly said the recent fatalities were a "tragic reminder of the serious safety risks posed by this outdated and congested stretch of road". "The loss of life reinforces the urgent need to dual the route between Braintree and Marks Tey - a longstanding priority I have campaigned for," he said.

For westbound diversions, continue on A12 to junction 19 and join the A131 before heading onto the A120 at Great Notley Roundabout.
To carry out the work safely all laybys between Marks Farm Roundabout and Marks Tey will be closed for the duration of the works.
Residents who live nearby will still have access during the closures.
