Divers sent out as concerns grow for missing Cheshire woman
Rachel Booth, 38 from Northwich, Cheshire, was reported missing in the the early hours of Saturday, police said. She was last seen by family in the Barnton area of Northwich before a more recent sighting at around 3.50am around five miles away at the Sandiway garage on the A556 road. Police said it is believed she may have travelled to the Oakmere area of Delamere.
Cheshire Police officers, underwater search teams and Cheshire Search and Rescue are now investigating. A water park in Delamere, less than two miles away from the petrol station, said it was closed on Sunday due to a police investigation in the surrounding area. Superintendent Paul Hughes said: "We are currently following a number of inquiries to trace Rachel and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare. "As part of our investigation, our officers and partner agencies, including the Underwater Search Team and Cheshire Search and Rescue, are conducting inquiries in the Oakmere and surrounding areas where it is believed Rachel travelled to, and we would like to thank local businesses for their patience and understanding while these are currently ongoing. The Wild Shore Delamere Park watersports centre said in a statement it is closed "due to ongoing police investigations in the surrounding area".
The statement added: "This incident is unrelated to Wild Shore - however we wish to help as much as possible - so we will be closing the site until further notice."
