Four miles of traffic backing up to Swindon after SECOND M4 crash

Four miles of traffic is being reported building up eastbound on the carriageway, almost backing up to the J15 at Swindon. This crash took place near Membury Services at around 440pm between J15 and J14, with two inside lanes of three closed. Thames Valley police are at the scene as are paramedics from the ambulance service.

Highways England has reported 30 minutes of delays on the approach, with 4 miles of congestion, almost backing onto J15 at Swindon. It comes after the M4 was closed for just over two hours before reopening one lane.

Queues were extensive in both directions, between Membury Services and the Newbury junction, and delays of 50 minutes were being reported.

While traffic remains eastbound at this site, the incident appears to have been largely cleared after a crash between a lorry and a car.
