Live updates as overturned lorry shuts M6 shut in both directions
The M6 has been shut in both directions between Junction 15 and Junction 16 after a lorry was turned over onto its side. Motorists are currently being held as emergency services respond to the scene. Eyewitnesses have reported that three police cars, two fire engines, two ambulances and an air ambulance have been dispatched to the scene.
In a post shared on social media, National Highways West Midlands stated: "Traffic is being held on the M6 in both directions between J16 Talke and J15 Stoke-on-Trent due to a collision resulting in a lorry overturning and coming to a rest across the central reservation. Please expect delays." Traffic system Inrix also shared an update: "All traffic being temporarily held and queuing traffic due to accident on the M6."
A StokeonTrentLive reader caught in the standstill said: "We are sitting in it now. We've just seen an air ambulance circling above." StokeonTrentLive has approached Staffordshire Police and the West Midlands Ambulance Service for comment.
