Lorry overturns at Hockley Circus roundabout live as scrap cars scattered over road

A lorry has overturned on a busy Birmingham road, blocking it off close to a busy roundabout. The incident took place on Hockley Circus, close to the junction of Hunters Road, on Wednesday (July 16) morning. The lorry was carrying a number of scrap cars, which made the scene look dramatic as they scattered across the highway.

West Midlands Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Midlands Fire Service crews all attended the incident. A lorry driver was checked over at the scene and then taken to Midlands Metropolitan Hospital for further treatment. West Midlands Roads, transport for West Midlands traffic updates service, posted on X and said: "Hunters Road Hockley Circus, Hockley, Birmingham.

Overturned lorry. "The southbound exit from A41 onto the island is closed. The eastern side of the island is closed.

Try and avoid the area if you can." National Express West Midlands has confirmed it is diverting its services as a result of the incident. The incident is ongoing while the recovery of the lorry and the scrap cars is awaited.
