M6 drivers warned ‘you will be reported and dealt with’ after horror crash
M6 motorists are set to face consequences after driving past a collision that resulted in nine injuries. Lancashire Police have observed numerous drivers recording the incident as they passed by the crash site. The incident occurred on the M6 between Junction 32 (Brockholes) and Junction 33 (Lancaster South), leaving several people, including children, injured.
Serious Collision Investigation Unit Inspector Steve Scott has warned that those who flouted the law would be addressed accordingly, reports Birmingham Live[1]. Mr Scott noted that the police had seen footage on social media of drivers filming the scene while steering a minibus full of children. He added: "We were able to record at least five others doing the same thing.
"This is incredibly dangerous and illegal. Those caught by our officers or by cameras doing this yesterday will be reported and dealt with appropriately." He commented: "Whilst they were at their most vulnerable, some drivers selfishly chose to film for their own curiosity and entertainment.
We want to take this time to remind you to drive with caution. If you think it is acceptable to drive in this manner, it is not." In reaction to the warning, an irate motorist said: "Quite right too.
All too often nowadays the public are too willing to film incidents, than pull their fingers out, and assist in prevention or help! Until prosecutions are made possible for offences of public duty, or responsibility, then the public will suffer, and will end up with the society they deserve. "I don't understand the ghoulish need to film the misery and heartbreak of others!" a second person expressed.
Julie Clark recounted her harrowing experience while driving to work, witnessing the car ahead being hit by another vehicle, causing her to swerve to avoid debris before pulling over on the hard shoulder, visibly shaken and in tears. Describing the chaos, Ms Clark recalled how one of the struck vehicles "shot in the air" and "the woman in front of me spun around". She likened the scene to an explosion, stating, "It was like a bomb went off.
There was debris everywhere,".
