M60 shut after several hurt in eight-vehicle crash
Part of the M60 has been closed in both directions after an eight-vehicle pile-up, police have said.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said officers were initially called to reports of a crash involving three lorries, two cars and a van at about 11:30 BST.
National Highways said the M60 would remain closed for a "substantial amount of time" because of the amount of damage to motorway infrastructure and vehicles, as well as debris and spillage on the carriageways.
Motorists attempting to travel between junction 25 for the Bredbury Interchange and junction 1 for the Pyramid Roundabout in Stockport are being urged to use signposted diversions.
