Mercedes driver caught speeding at 125mph on M27 eastbound
Carl Russell was travelling at 55mph more than the speed limit on the M27 eastbound. He was recorded driving at the incredible speed between junctions three and four of the Hampshire motorway on June 7, 2024. This was on approach to Southampton from the New Forest along the stretch of road between Cadnam and Rownhams.
Southampton Magistrates' Court heard that the 40-year-old was behind the wheel of a black Mercedes when he exceeded the national speed limit of 70mph. Russell, of Wild Arum Way, Chandler's Ford, admitted a charge of speeding above 70mph. Appearing at court on June 5, he avoided a driving ban and was handed six points on his licence.
He was ordered to pay a fine of GBP833 and must also pay prosecution costs of GBP110 and a GBP333 surcharge.
