Motorcyclist dies in crash with van near Gatwick Airport
The motorbike and a white transit van were travelling northbound on Balcombe Road, near Gatwick Airport, when they were involved in a crash yesterday, July 9, just before 7.45pm. The vehicles collided between Fernhill Road and the M23 underpass. The motorcyclist, a 45-year-old man from Cobham, died at the scene.
The driver of the white transit van, a 26-year-old man from Crawley, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Sussex Police is now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin from the serious collision investigation unit said: "We are appealing witnesses, dashcam footage and anyone with CCTV footage that would have captured the vehicles driving just before or at the time of the collision."
