Motorcyclist who died in A417 crash near Wantage named

The collision between the motorbike and a car occurred on the A417 Reading Road between West Hendred and Ardington, near Wantage, at about 10pm on Thursday, June 26. Thames Valley Police said the rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 40s from Didcot, was given emergency medical treatment but died at the scene. The man was named as Kestutis Juozaitis of Diamond Drive, Didcot at an inquest opening held on July 14 at Oxford Coroner's Court by area coroner Nicholas Graham.

The inquest heard that the 43-year-old, who was born in Lithuania and worked as a lorry driver, was riding his motorbike on the A417 towards Didcot when he collided with another vehicle. At the time, police said the crash involved a Honda motorcycle and a Volkswagen golf, and the driver of the car was not injured. A post mortem was conducted, with his cause of death given multiple injuries.

The court heard that Mr Juozaitis' death was verified at 11.05pm by a doctor. A date has not been set for the full inquest at this stage. Following the crash Investigating officer PC Naomi Padgett of the joint operations roads policing unit, said: "We are investigating this incident in which a motorcyclist has died.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

"We are asking anyone with information or dash-cam footage who has not already come forward to contact us."

Anyone with information or footage relating to the fatal collision was asked to contact police by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference number 43250319329.
