Police launch fresh appeal for witnesses after young Celtic fan, 14, killed in Ayrshire crash

Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses after a young Celtic[1] fan was killed when he was hit by a car in Ayrshire. Aiden McLuckie, 14, died in the incident on the A76[2] at the bridge over the Cessnock Water near Hurlford at around 5.10pm on Wednesday, July 16. Aiden, from the local area, was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa.

The male driver and two passengers were checked over by paramedics. Aiden's family paid tribute to the teenager, saying: "We would like to firstly thank the two women and two off-duty police[3] officers who were on the scene first with Aiden. "Also we would like to thank all of the emergency services that attended and everything they did to try and save our boy and last but not least we would like to thank all the community for reaching out donating to Aiden's memorial and all the kind, loving messages, cards and flowers we have received.

"They mean the world and more at this devastating time. Aiden was the most loyal, loving, kind and caring wee guy you could ever meet and we will be left with a massive hole in our family that will never be filled. We honestly don't know how we will continue on without you in our lives.

"Rest in peace our beautiful boy, gone far too soon. "As a family we are urging anyone who was near or around the scene around the time this tragic incident happened to please come forward with any information or dash cam footage even the smallest detail could matter." Sir Rod Stewart has donated ?4,000 to a fundraiser in memory of the young Celt.

His family have thanked the community for their kindness and generosity after a memorial fundraiser raised more than ?10,000.[4][5] Sergeant Brian Simpson from Road Policing said: "Our thoughts remain with Aiden's family and we remain in regular contact with them as our investigation continues. "We are continuing to appeal for information and in the course of our investigation we have established that there may have been more vehicles in the area at the time than we initially thought.

"I would urge anyone who may have been on the A76 in the area around the time of the crash to review any dashcam footage from between 5pm and 5.10pm and contact us if they believe they have any information which could help." A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2706 of Wednesday, 16 July, 2025."
