Police officer charged after serious crash with pedestrian in Emersons Green
A serving Avon and Somerset Police Officer is due to appear in court accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after colliding with a pedestrian in Emersons Green. PC Dan Parsons, 32, was responding to an emergency in an unmarked police car when the vehicle struck a pedestrian on a roundabout. The collision took place on Sunday, November 24 at the roundabout where the A4174 meets Badminton Road.
A 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital with injuries following the collision. PC Parsons, based in South Gloucestershire[1], was charged following the crash. He is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 15.
Avon and Somerset Police has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which determined a local investigation by the force's own Professional Standards Department would be suitable.
The force's serious collision investigations team made enquiries following the crash and the matter was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.
