The accident is causing queues on the A249 stretching back to the Grovehurst Roundabout near Kemsley. Police have been pictured at the scene and are diverting drivers over the Kingsferry Bridge instead.

A spokesman for the force said: "We were called at 1.25pm to a collision involving a lorry and a car on the northbound carriageway on the Sheppey Crossing. "Officers are currently at the scene where no injuries have been reported. "The carriageway is closed while arrangements are made to recover the vehicles."
