Speeder caught by same camera two days in a row escapes ban

A SPEEDER caught out by Herefordshire's only fixed speed camera two days in a row has escaped a roads ban. Andrew Mitchell entered guilty pleas to two counts of speeding when he appeared before magistrates in July. The 58-year-old had been caught speeding in a 30 miles per hour zone on the A465 Belmont Road while behind the wheel of a Ford on May 7 last year, prosecutor David Whittaker told magistrates.

Mitchell, of Herbert Avenue, Risca, was fined GBP75 and received three penalty points for each offence, but magistrates said there would be no disqualification as this would cause him to lose his employment and would affect his family's financial situation and his ability to care for a family member.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of GBP65 and a GBP60 victim surcharge.
