57 year old man dies after lorry crash on A1(M) southbound

West Yorkshire Police have said that they are investigating after a fatal crash on the A1(M) southbound yesterday lunchtime. As reported by The Press,[1] the southbound carriage of the motorway was closed from junction 44 - which joins with the A64 - and junction 45 for Wetherby for most of the day. A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers were called at 1.20pm to reports that a lorry had left the carriageway just after junction 45.

"The driver of the lorry was pronounced dead at the scene." Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. They are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area at the time who may have dash cam of the incident or the vehicle prior to the incident to come forward.
