A38 Derbyshire live traffic updates as major road closed after crash causes spillage
A major Derbyshire road[1] has reopened after a serious collision caused a spillage across the carriageway. The A38[2] was closed southbound between the A61 at Alfreton[3] and the A610 near Ripley[4] / Belper[5] after a collision involving a lorry and a car. The closure was confirmed by National Highways[6] at 1.15pm on Monday (August 4), which added that emergency services were in attendance. Derbyshire police have said that a woman in her 50s has since been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We received reports of a collision on the A38 at around 12.36pm on Monday. The incident, which occurred on the southbound carriageway between Alfreton and Ripley, involved a lorry and a Peugeot 107. "The driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her 50s, has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed while the incident was dealt with but has now reopened." Traffic monitoring service Inrix added that the closure was causing queueing traffic in the area due to a "serious" crash, but that traffic is now easing following the reopening of the road. Our live coverage of this incident has now concluded.
