A500 gridlock as motorists stuck in huge M6 queues after smash

'Emergency repairs' are now being carried out

Motorists are today stuck in long delays across the A500 - after a smash on the M6. And traffic has come to a grinding halt between Talke and the motorway following a collision earlier today.

Meanwhile a live map from National Highways has this afternoon revealed the extent of the issues on the D-road. It comes after a collision between a truck and two cars on the southbound carriageway earlier today.

National Highways say 'significant damage' has been caused to a central reservation between junctions 16 and 15.

Now 'emergency repairs' are being carried out.

A lane is out on the northbound and southbound while this is carried out. On the motorway and there's a 25-minute delay northbound and 40-minute delay southbound.

There's also been a knock-on on the A500. Traffic is queuing from Talke towards the M6 before coming to a halt near Audley.

The D-road is then busy in both directions between Talke and the A50 as drivers look for alternatives.

There are then queues near Hanford towards Junction 15.
