A692 Dipton blocked as one taken to hospital after crash

The A692, outside the Owl and Otter pub near Dipton in Stanley, was blocked after a two-car crash at about 1.50pm on Thursday (August 7). Two people were treated at the scene by paramedics, police said. And North East Ambulance confirmed both were taken to hospital.

Pictures show the road closed with a police van and officers stopping traffic from passing. A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called at 1.50pm today (August 7) following a two-vehicle collision on the A692 just outside Dipton. "Two people are believed to have been injured and were treated by paramedics.

At least one was taken to hospital as a precaution. "The road has been blocked while the vehicles are recovered."

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the A692, Burnopfield, at 13:47 on Thursday, August 7. "We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader, and one rapid response vehicle to the incident.

"Two patients were taken to the University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment."
