Biker, 22, dies after ‘hitting kerb’ and crashing in Bad Munstereifel Road (A2070), Ashford

A 22-year-old biker has died after reportedly hitting a kerb and falling from his motorcycle. Police were called at around 9.45pm on Tuesday to a section of Bad Munstereifel Road (A2070) in Ashford, close to Orbital Park.

A police spokesman said: "It is reported the man fell from a blue Kawaski motorcycle after the vehicle struck a kerb. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

"Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and the victim, aged 22, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed." The road was closed overnight before reopening shortly after 9am.

Enquiries are being carried out by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Motorists who were in the area are urged to check for any dashcam footage, which may assist the investigation.

A SECAmb spokesperson said they were called at approximately 9.45pm yesterday evening. "Crews attended, however sadly a man in his 20s died at the scene," they said.
