Biker dies in horror crash that also killed ‘loving father’

A motorcyclist died in a devastating collision that also claimed the life of "a devoted husband and loving father". The tragic crash took place in Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire. Officers were alerted to reports that a BMW motorbike had struck 68-year-old pedestrian Lyndon Wright - alongside a woman in her 60s - shortly after 10.30pm on August 7.

Tragically, Lyndon, from Clayton-Le-Woods, lost his life following the crash on the A6 Preston Road at the junction with Cloverfield. The biker - a man in his 50s from Macclesfield - also sadly died at the scene. The woman was rushed to hospital for treatment where she remains in a serious but stable condition, officers have confirmed.

Paying tribute to Lyndon, his family said: "Lyndon Wright, passed away suddenly on 8th August 2025 following a road traffic collision. He was a devoted husband and loving father, who leaves behind his wife, Carol, his son, James, and many dear friends and family who will miss him deeply." Three men - a 53 year-old from Whittle-le-Woods, a 57 year-old from Middlewich and 46 year-old from Congleton - were in the vicinity at the time of the crash and were all detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

They have since been bailed under investigation, pending further enquiries, reports Cheshire Live[1]. Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward. Police are keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage from junction 29 to 31 of the M6 and the A6 in the Cloverfield area, between 10.15pm and 10.45pm.

Det Sgt Joe Ghigi, of our Roads Policing Unit said: "Lyndon's loved ones have paid tribute to him following the collision, as our investigation continues. Of course, our thoughts remain with Lyndon's family, with the woman receiving treatment in hospital, and the loved ones of the motorcyclist who also died. "They are being supported by specially trained officers.

Although we have now made three arrests, our enquiries are very much ongoing. If you witnessed anything or have any footage which would assist our investigation, I would urge you to make contact with the police as soon as possible." If you can assist police, contact 101 or email [email protected] quoting log 1510 of 7 August 2025.
