Christopher Mordue died from head injuries in Rushyford crash
Christopher Mordue, 38, died at the scene of a collision on the A689 at Rushyford, in County Durham, on June 30. An inquest looking into the circumstances surrounding his death was opened on Thursday, August 7, and heard he died from head injuries. Crook Coroner's Court heard the Hetton-le-Hole resident, who worked as a scrap metal merchant, was travelling along the road at 11.15am when he collided with a HGV driving in the opposite direction.

"The body of the deceased was identified on July 3 2025." 
One card placed at the crash site reads: "Christopher, You will stay alive in my heart forever. I need you to rest in peace now. I will love you always and never ever forget you.
All my love forever." 
"The man, in his 30s was sadly pronounced dead the scene. Two other people were taken to hospital with serious injuries. "His family have been notified are being supported by specialist officers.
"The road was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene."
