A spokeswoman for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: "We received an emergency call just after 10am on Wednesday morning to reports of a collision on Braegate Lane, Colton, Tadcaster. "Two patients were conveyed by road to York Hospital and one patient was flown to Leeds General Infirmary." North Yorkshire Police issued an alert to warn drivers to expect 'significant' traffic delays following the incident and a separate incident nearby involving a lorry fire in a layby between the Copmanthorpe roundabout and Bilbrough Top on the A64.
The road was closed, causing heavy congestion affecting back roads in the surrounding area, and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are advising people who live close to the A64 to keep their doors and windows closed due to the smoke.
