Crash and overturned lorry causes two-mile rush hour tailback on motorway

A CRASH involving an overturned lorry on the M6 is causing delays and a two-hour tailback.

The incident, reported by National Highways: North West at around 8.30am on Wednesday, August 20, happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 16, for Nantwich and Crewe, and junction 17, for Sandbach.

Lanes one and two are closed as emergency services and traffic officers work at the scene. Advertisement Advertisement

The highways authority is currently reporting a two-mile tailback on approach to the incident, and is warning drivers to allow extra time for their journeys.

Estimated delay time is currently 40 minutes, with normal road conditions expected to return by 12.30pm.

A National Highways: North West spokesman said: "Lanes one and two of four are closed on the M6 northbound between junction 16, for Nantwich and Crewe, and junction 17 for Sandbach due to a collision involving an overturned lorry.

"Traffic officers and emergency services are on scene.

"There are two miles of congestion on approach so allow extra journey time."
